The HORRIFIC Execution Of George Plantagenet – Drowned In Wine!

George Plantagenet is remembered in History as a turncoat and a man who defected during the turbulent Wars of the Roses. The Wars of the Roses were a series of Medieval battles and conflicts over who was the rightful King of England, and over the decades these battles shaped England forever.

George Plantagenet, the Duke of Clarence was born into the House of York, and his father had fought for the Yorkist dynasty being the Duke of York. His father was executed, but George had many siblings and two of them would become the King, Edward IV and Richard III. It was against Edward IV that George would rebel joining forces with Warwick Kingmaker, Richard Neville the Earl of Warwick.

George defected against his brother Edward, and fought for the House of Lancaster his once bitter enemy however he then defected back over to the Yorkist side. He caused the King a huge number of problems though, as he spread many rumours against Edward IV when the King refused to support Edward with his quest for a second wife following his first wife’s death. These rumours questioned Edward’s legitimacy and following these the King had his own brother George imprisoned in the Tower of London.

Edward IV then ordered the execution of his brother, however he would not meet his end in a simple beheading like during the Tudor period. He was allegedly drowned in a barrel of wine inside the Tower of London, which greatly showed how brutal Edward could be.
